What are some good things about your law college?

Seth Shankarlal Lahoti Law College has been well-known since 1960. It is one of the oldest colleges in the Karnataka region and offers both 3-year and 5-year law courses. Our infrastructure may be old, but it is well-maintained. The faculty is promising and friendly, and we have a well-equipped library with all the necessary books required during your course. The library is usually open from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. on weekdays, and we also have an e-library.

The college offers several programs such as orientation programs and other law-related programs that are performed regularly. Additionally, we have a moot court hall at our college. Our college also runs a child nodal center and addresses grievance redressal. We have a playground and playroom that are open from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M..

Furthermore, our college is full of greenery that creates a positive and healthy environment for all students during their journey at this law college.

Are there any bad things about your college?

Even though our college has Wi-Fi facility available in every corner of the building, there is still a need for improvement in the infrastructure and provision of computer labs for research purposes. At times, there is a communication gap between the clerks and students as they do not provide information unless asked.

While SSL Law College is known for its academic rigor, it lacks practical exposure to real-world legal scenarios. Students often express the need for more hands-on experiences, such as additional opportunities for internships and practical training. To address this, a structured program should be implemented to ensure that every student undergoes a mandatory internship, along with regular workshops on practical legal skills. This would significantly enhance the overall learning experience and better prepare graduates for the challenges of legal practice.

How has your experience in your college been till now?

My experience in law school has been both challenging and rewarding. While the academic material has been enriching, there have been moments where I felt that extra support or clarity could have made the learning process even better. I found some courses to be particularly insightful, and I believe there’s room for improvement in certain areas of the overall student experience.

How’s the faculty in your college?

The faculty at my law college is diverse, with some professors delivering exceptional lectures and providing valuable insights. However, there have been instances where the teaching methods could be more varied to accommodate different learning styles. Overall, it’s a mix of excellent and average experiences, but I appreciate the effort some professors put into creating a positive learning atmosphere.

How’s the infrastructure in your college?

While my law college has some notable infrastructures such as a comprehensive law library and functional classrooms, moot court hall, and playroom some areas could use some improvement. Maintenance issues in certain parts of the building have been observed, and occasional disruptions have affected the overall experience. Despite these challenges, the college generally provides adequate facilities for supporting our academic pursuits.

How’s your hostel experience?

Our law college doesn’t currently provide a hostel facility. Students typically arrange accommodation independently, and the college administration often assists in providing information about nearby housing/paying guest options. While this means we have the flexibility to choose accommodation based on personal preferences, it also requires students to take responsibility for finding suitable living arrangements in the vicinity of the campus.

How are your peers?

My peers at law college come from varied backgrounds, bringing different perspectives to the table. While there’s a mix of collaborative and competitive dynamics, it creates a diverse learning environment. Building connections with classmates has been enriching, even though there have been occasional challenges in group dynamics. Some of our close ones encourage us to be consistent in hard times and are fun sometimes too. It’s good to have appreciative people around us.

How are the placements in your college?

At my law college, there is no formal placement service. However, the college offers resources and guidance to help students explore job opportunities independently. You can communicate with the faculty if you want to get a job in a good office or a chamber. I would suggest that keep reaching out to everyone it doesn’t matter if it’s faculty members or you seniors you should never hesitate to ask anything to anyone.

How are the co-curricular activities in your college?

Co-curricular activities at my law college are an essential part of our academic journey. They complement our studies by offering a diverse range of opportunities such as orientation program, moot court competitions, and legal aid clinics. These activities provide practical exposure and help students hone their skills. The students’ active participation and enthusiasm contribute to a vibrant co-curricular scene, fostering a holistic learning environment. Although some students don’t participate actively, I believe that it’s always essential to try your best and maintain a positive attitude.
