About the Internship Experience

A judicial intern had the privilege to witness the intricate workings of the Lucknow High Court, which stands as a beacon of justice in the heart of Uttar Pradesh. The majestic institution offers a unique and unfiltered insight into the world of law, order, and justice.

The intern shares their experience of life at Lucknow High Court, highlighting various aspects such as the enchanting architecture, the significance of providing a separate gallery for esteemed judges, the guardianship of their chairs and courtrooms, the balancing act of upholding professionalism and light humour, navigating the labyrinth of pressure and workload, and the reminders from the past at the museum and archives centre.

The Enchanting Architecture

The Lucknow High Court is not only the bastion of legal deliberations but also a masterpiece of architecture. Its exterior, adorned with regal domes and intricate carvings, reflects the cultural heritage of the region.

Stepping inside, one is greeted by an awe-inspiring interior, blending elegance and solemnity. The court’s various sections, such as the judicial library, chambers of the Hon’ble Judges, the AIR library, regal courtrooms, and expansive hallways, adorned with portraits of legal luminaries, stand as a reminder of the court’s legacy.

Guardians of Their Chairs and Courtrooms

The Hon’ble Judges of Lucknow High Court consider themselves the guardians of not just their chairs but of the sanctity of the courtrooms they preside over. Clad in robes that exude authority and wisdom, the Judges command respect and admiration. The courtroom becomes a sacred space where the principles of law are brought to life, and justice is served. The Hon’ble Judges maintain professionalism while infusing light humour into the proceedings, offering moments of relief amidst the pressure.

The Balancing Act: Upholding Professionalism and Light Humor Amidst the Courtroom Pressure:

Contrary to popular belief, the courtroom is not always sombre and serious. The Hon’ble Judges at the Lucknow High Court have mastered the art of infusing light humour into their proceedings, maintaining a delicate balance between professionalism and light-heartedness. This serves to ease the pressure and humanize the proceedings, without losing sight of the pursuit of justice.

Navigating the Labyrinth: Pressure, Workload, and Dedication:

Within the grandeur and solemnity of the Lucknow High Court, legal professionals navigate through a labyrinth of cases, arguments, and legal intricacies. Judges bear the weight of making decisions that shape lives, requiring intensive research and contemplation. Lawyers engage in thorough preparation to present their best. The pursuit of justice demands long hours of research, drafting, and rigorous courtroom appearances.

Reminders from the Past: The Museum and Archives Centre:

The Museum of Archives and Records Center within the High Court of Lucknow stands as a repository of invaluable historical documents, connecting us to India’s past. Historical artefacts such as original records, relics, and documents dating back to significant events in Indian history are preserved with reverence. These artefacts serve as reminders of the struggles and sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom and shaped our nation’s destiny.

Conclusion

Life at Lucknow High Court, as experienced by a judicial intern, is a delicate blend of tradition and modernity, solemnity and humour, humility and authority. Witnessing justice unfold within these walls leaves an indelible mark, reminding us of the profound responsibility that comes with upholding the principle of law and fairness. For law students, this exposure to real-time practice instils enthusiasm and determination towards their ultimate goal in the legal profession.
